KATY, TEXAS (KHOU) – Shoppers thought they had no time when they saw two kids in a hot Jeep on Monday afternoon (July 14) and took matters into their own hands, according to affiliate station KHOU.

Some of the shoppers tried to smash open the windows to try and free the small boy and girl KHOU reported.

“It was a crazy situation,” said Gabriel Del Valle, who used his cell phone to shoot video of the incident.

Del Valle said he walked out of his business, which was close by, after hearing the children crying out in desperation, according to KHOU.

“The kids were in there crying,” said Del Valle. “I mean you would understand. It’s real hot.

One shopper used a hammer to shatter the glass, KHOU reported.

“And even then they could barely open the doors because there was a child lock on,” he said. “Kids were in the crying.”

Eventually, the children were freed, and the mother of the kids said she had left them temporarily so she could get a haircut. No one called the police, and the children were unharmed, according to KHOU.
