The  Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast took place Friday (July 18) at the Holiday Inn City Center in Fort Smith.

“It’s an opportunity for a lot of citizens in the community to come together and start the day with a prayer of service,” said Fort Smith Mayor Sandy Sanders. ” Its just a good opportunity for us to get together for at least one breakfast each year.”

This breakfast gives people a chance to pray for those who watch over the city, he said.

“That’s the thing for the prayer breakfast, (to) pray for those in authority,” Sanders said.

Bible readings and prayers were given by local pastors.  After that, different speakers took the stage, including the president of Hobby Lobby, Steve Green.

Green took the time to talk about the history of the retail store and how his faith has impacted his life.

Today’s event, marked the 43rd annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast.
