Chicas is set to file for office on Friday at 2 p.m.
A John Brown University graduate who works in the Rogers school district in special education, Chicas said if elected he will help promote tourism, help attract more businesses to Rogers and help the Historic Downtown District grow.
He also said he wants to “use incentives to draw more industry to the town and region.””I want to promote a positive life experience for all who live in this beautiful and vibrant city,” he said in the news release.
Chicas is a reporter and anchor at Telemundo, a Spanish-languge television network, he said in the news release. A former professional soccer player, he is also known as the Spanish voice of the University of Arkansas Razorbacks.
Chicas and his wife, Deysi, have three children.
“I want to show through service and positive community leadership that I am first and foremost an American and that I can be an excellent councilman,” he said.
