FORT SMITH (KFSM) – A Fort Smith man is behind bars after chasing a woman around with knives, police said.

Kyle Flanagan, 22, had multiple active warrants for his arrest before the Fort Smith Police Department arrested him at the Capri Motel at 1833 Midland Blvd. on July 21, according to a preliminary report.

On July 9, Flanagan went to his residence and got into a fight with a woman that also lived there. The fight got physical and resulted in the woman leaving the residence around 11 p.m. that evening. She went to the home of the victim, who was later chased around with knives, and waited for her to get off work, according to an arrest warrant.

The victim finished her shift around 12:30 a.m. on July 10 and both women went back to Flanagan’s residence to get some personal items, hoping to avoid running into Flanagan, the warrant states.

At approximately 3 a.m., both women arrived at Flanagan’s residence and found him still home. He ran out of the home with knives in his hand and started to chase the victim around a car, swinging the knives in her direction before eventually stopping, according to the warrant.

The two women were able to leave the residence without any injuries, and they called the police about the incident, the warrant states.

Flanagan also had another warrant out for his arrest stemming from a case on May 1. At that time, he was homeless and spent the night in the back of a friend’s vehicle with a woman. When the woman asked him to go apply for a job while she was working at community service, he became upset and choked her for 20 seconds. Then, he punched her in the face, causing her mouth to bleed, according to an earlier arrest warrant.

After Flanagan’s arrest on July 21, he was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center. He faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a family or household member, failure to pay a fine, third-degree domestic battery and failure to appear, according to the jail’s intake report.
