SEQUOYAH COUNTY, OKLA. (KFSM) – Two men are recovering in the hospital after their motorcycles collided on U.S. Highway 59 near Sallisaw.

Troopers with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the accident happened Monday night (July 21) around 10:30 p.m.

Shawn Chambers, 42, of Muldrow, was taken by ambulance to Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith with trunk-internal injuries, troopers said.

Craig Silvay, 48, of Fort Smith, was taken by helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with arm, leg, head, trunk-internal, and trunk-external injuries, according to authorities. Both men are now in stable condition, according to troopers.

Troopers said Chambers was driving his motorcycle northbound on U.S. Highway 59 with Silvay following directly behind him on his motorcycle. Authorities said Chambers crashed, laying his motorcycle on its side and was then struck by Silvay, according to a crash report.

Silvay was said to be traveling at unsafe speeds when he crashed, according to troopers on scene.

Neither of the drivers were wearing helmets at the time, the report states.

Authorities said the accident is still under investigation.
