FORT SMITH (KFSM) - The Fort Smith Board of Directors will meet with the Fort Smith Public Board of Education, and the City of Barling Monday (July 28) as part of a special study session.

One of the main topics of the meeting will be the school district's plans for the future.

"We have school issues and we want to make sure that the city leaders in both of these towns are up to speed on what we're doing," said Superintendent Benny Gooden, "We also want to give them an opportunity to ask any questions and give any input or comments that they have on our plans."

Another topic of discussion is the number of projects they have in the works, and how they will impact the two cities the district serves.

"We have a lot of school work underway. We have schools all over the two cities and we're planning other things for the future and it's always great to get input from city leaders because they have constituencies just as doable as school board members, " said Gooden.

This will be the first time all three groups have met as part of a joint meeting.

The meeting will be held in the Fort Smith Public Schools Service Center at 6:30 p.m.
