Summer vacation ends in just a few weeks. Families across the area are gearing up to head back to school. Academy Sports and Outdoors in Fort Smith is teaming up with kids from the Boys and Girls Club Thursday (July 31) to make sure they have what they need for the first day of class. Kids will arrive at 2:00 to start their back- to- school shopping.

Thirty kids will attend and go to Academy to shop for their favorite school supplies. This is the second year that the Boys and Girls Club has teamed up with Academy Sports and Outdoors to have kids come in and go shopping.

Each child will receive a $100 gift card to buy supplies such as jeans, backpacks, clothes, and shoes.

Kids ages from six to eighteen attend the Boys and Girls Club. All four locations, Evans, Goldtrap, Jeffrey, and Stephens will participate in the fun day of shopping for supplies.

Each location had different competitions to see which kids got the chance to go shopping at Academy. Director of Operations at the Boys and Girls Club, Jason Morland said the kids are happy to be going again this year.

"I think its a great deal that a kid knows that they have $100 to spend," said Morland. " They will actually team up with an associate at Academy and walk through and kind of have a mentor with them shopping as they go around counting up the money," said Morland.

Kids with the Boys and Girls Club in Fayetteville did their back-to-school shopping spree with Academy yesterday (July 30).
