SEBASTIAN COUNTY (KFSM) – The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on suspicion of filing a false report with deputies, according to an arrest report.

James Holmes, 57, of Fort Smith was arrested after deputies said he filed a false report twice.

On July 31, a deputy called to Holmes’ residence in the 16000 block of Bear Hollow Heights concerning someone breaking into his home and assaulting him twice during the previous weekend, the report states.

During that weekend (July 26 and 27), deputies were called out of the residence because Holmes claimed that someone had broken in and assaulted him, according to the report. Holmes later admitted that he had gotten drunk and fallen, hurting his face, the report states.

Deputies were called to the same residence again the next day concerning another break-in and assault. When they arrived, they questioned Holmes about the previous night, and laughing, he admitted again that he was drunk and had fallen, causing injury to his face, according to the report.

When the deputy arrived to speak with Holmes on July 31 concerning the weekend’s events, Holmes was drunk again. He said that he wasn’t sure what happened, but he believed someone had assaulted him, the report states.

Holmes was arrested and booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center. He faces a charge of filing a false report, according to the jail’s intake report.
