FORT SMITH (KFSM) – A memorial service has been scheduled for a Greenwood father and son who were found dead on July 29 in Yell County after being reported missing, according to an obituary for the father.

The bodies of Brian A. Floyd, 33, of Greenwood and his 10-month-old son Harper Floyd were found by authorities in a remote area near the father’s abandoned pickup.

The memorial service has been scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 2) at Community Bible Church at 9201 Dallas St. in Fort Smith, according to the obituary.

“Brian was a warm kind son, a generous brother, a fun loving cousin, and an exceptional father. His passion was the beauty of nature which he showed in his creative landscaping around our area, and in his continuous outdoor adventures. He and Harper are at peace together,” the obituary states.

After the father and son’s disappearance, authorities launched a search and rescue effort. Search crews on July 29 first found Harper Floyd dead around 1:30 p.m., before finding the body of Brian Floyd about an hour later, according to the Yell County Sheriff’s Department.

Brian Floyd and his son went missing on July 25 near Blue Mountain Lake, according to authorities.
