The lawyer for a woman whose husband and 10-month-old son were recently found dead in the Ouachita Mountains says he doesn’t believe she should be considered a suspect in their deaths.

“I’ve not seen anything to indicate she had anything to do with their deaths,” said Bill James, a Little Rock lawyer representing 21-year-old Brooke Floyd. “In my opinion, she’s not a suspect.”

The Greenwood woman was released late last month from the Yell County Jail in Dardanelle after posting a $50,000 bond.

She is facing charges of child endangerment and hindering apprehension, officials said. Yell County Sheriff Bill Gilkey named her as a possible suspect in the death of her husband and their infant son.

James said he has been in contact with Yell County Prosecuting Attorney Tom Tatum and anticipates charges could be filed as early as this week.

Authorities have not said why Brooke Floyd was arrested or how she might be connected to the deaths of her son, Harper, or husband, Brian Floyd.

Authorities said they found the bodies of both Harper and Brian Floyd July 29 in a remote area south of Blue Mountain Lake. They had been missing since July 25.

The sheriff said he could not comment on whether foul play was suspected in their deaths.

A backpack was found with the bodies, along with some materials that have not identified by investigators, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Investigators said they did not find any sort of weapon at the scene.

Harper and Brian Floyd were last seen in an area south of Blue Mountain Lake, after Brian Floyd’s pickup broke down, authorities said.
