GREENLAND (KFSM) -Authorities on Thursday afternoon found a body inside a Greenland house that burned to the ground, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Local fire crews responded at 1:22 p.m. to a house fire call at 10195 Daisy Lane. Authorities have not yet identified the body found among the home’s remains.

Public records show the house belongs to Dale Cheatham, although there is no indication that is who was killed in the fire. The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for identification and to determine the cause of death, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators cleared out of the scene Thursday night because the house’s remains were still too hot. They are scheduled to go back Friday to continue investigating, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
