FORT SMITH (KFSM) – A 31-year-old man is in the hospital following a high-speed police chase that ended with him crashing his motorcycle Tuesday.

Police tried to pull over Matthew Sexton and his motorcycle Tuesday afternoon in Fort Smith following some suspected traffic violations. Sexton fled from authorities on Grand Avenue, leading them on a high-speed chase on Interstate 540 and Interstate 40 in Oklahoma, according to the Arkansas State Police.

The chase, at one point, reached speeds of 130 miles per hour, police said.

Sexton’s motorcycle clipped a vehicle in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, causing him to crash. He was transported to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith with non-life-threatening injuries, state police said.

Sexton faces several charges, including traffic violations, felony fleeing from police and an unspecified felony warrant out of Tennessee, police said. State police said Sexton will be booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center when he is treated and released from the hospital.
