The defensive front may be the best unit on the Arkansas football team as the 2014 season approaches but that's not keeping freshman Bijhon Jackson from fighting for time.
Jackson, a highly touted recruit from El Dorado, gets an up close look at Darius Philon every day, the tackle that most expect to lead the Razorbacks this fall but the freshman said he's just focused on playing like anything but his age.
"The biggest thing for me is to come in and not play like a freshman," Jackson said. "I'm trying to impress the coaches and show them that i can play in the SEC. I just want to impress them and earn some early playing time."
Defensive line coach Rory Segrest talked about his freshman defensive tackle on media day and said he likes what he's seen so far.
"He's a very conscientious guy," Segrest said. "He spends a lot of time studying both his playbook and film. I think that is where he's coming at in terms of making sure he doesn't play like a freshman, just a mistake part of it more than anything."
