RIVER VALLEY (KFSM) - Severe weather slammed the River Valley causing power outages and delays for parents picking up kids from school.

Heavy rain, lightning, and thunder tore through Monday (Aug. 18).

The power at Moffett Public Schools went out as well from the weather.

A principal at the Moffett school district told 5NEWS he hopes to have the power back up and running soon at school.

Trees were also uprooted in Spiro, Oklahoma.

"It kind of scared me," said homeowner Dewayne Lewis.

Lewis had a tree uprooted in his front yard.

"It sounded like a ton of bricks just bricks falling," Lewis said.

Spiro homeowner Ann Ward had a tree snap in her front yard.

"This is the second time this has happened this year I had one come off earlier and I thought the lightening had took it out," Lewis said.
