RUSSELLVILLE (KFSM) – Russellville police responded to a call from the St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center behavioral ward concerning a patient with a “metal pipe” threatening the staff on Aug. 15 at 8:46 a.m., authorities say.

Dallas Larson, 26, a patient in the ward at the hospital took a metal leg off of a table and began threatening staff with it. Staff told police that he was destroying the wall in the room he was in, and two staff members were holding the door to keep Larson from exiting the room, according to court documents.

Three more police officers arrived at the hospital, and they entered the room where Larson was destroying the wall. They told him he needed to get on the ground with his hands behind his back, or he would be tased, court documents state.

Larson cooperated, and he was taken into custody, according to court documents.

In Larson’s room, police noted that there was “extensive damage” to the wall around the window, and Larson had a minor cut on his right bicep with blood on it, court documents state.

While at the hospital, staff told police that Larson had made multiple threats toward them. Larson also came up to the nurse’s station and told them he wanted to leave. He said that if he didn’t get out, he was “going to kill someone,” according to court documents.

Nurses tried to calm him down, but he went to his room and came back with a metal table leg, beating on the glass at the nurse’s station, making more threats, court documents state.

After that, Larson left and went back to his room to damage the wall, according to court documents.

Larson was booked into the Pope County Detention Center and faces charges of criminal mischief, terroristic threatening and emergency custody, court documents state.

The total amount of damage to the hospital was estimated to be $1,500, according to court documents.
