ALMA (KFSM) – Alma High School will bring hundreds of students together for a team building event tonight (August 22).
264 student athletes and 30 coaches from 13 different sports will participate in the 2014 Athletic Symposium.
During the symposium, students will learn how to better themselves both academically and athletically.
“The idea behind this is to really help each one of our athletes develop individually in as many different areas as we can help them develop”, said Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Mike McSpadden.
The event will feature four keynote speakers, as well as several breakout sessions. The breakout sessions will cover topics such as nutrition and college eligibility.
“The athletes are so excited about this, ” said Lauren Schlabach, Communications Director for the Alma School District, “It’s a great time to just bring together all the athletes from the different sports.”
The school hopes this event will make their student athletes stronger in all areas.
“So many times they’re in their different sports and they don’t all get to come together, but this is a great opportunity for them to come together as one team and really build the Alma spirit, ” said Schlabach.
Check-in begins at 4:30 p.m. followed by the Welcome given by McSpadden. The symposium will end at 10:00 p.m.
