The 18th annual Summer's End Corvette Show brought out nearly 150 old and new cars to the Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers.
Despite an almost 100 degree day, organizer Richard Peak said there was a lot of foot traffic through the mall looking at the cars.
"This morning during late registration cars just kept flying in, one after another after another, so it didn't affect anyone that wanted to be at the show," Peak said.
Peak is the co-chairman of the Northwest Arkansas Corvette Club, and said the event is put on to raise money for local charities. This year half of the money goes to the Benton County Police Athletic League to get at risk youth on sports team. The remainder of the funds goes to the Compassion House in Springdale, which provides care to young unwed mothers.
He said there is something about a Corvette that draws car enthusiasts in.
"The Corvettes have been the muscle car to own since 1953, and everybody has the dream of owning a Corvette," Peak said.
Car owners came from all over the United States to participate in the show. Nebraska native Dale Zimmerman said he likes the camaraderie of the Corvette club even more than the cars themselves.
"It's just a fantastic group of people that we enjoy hanging out with overtime we go to a show whether it's in Arkansas or Missouri, or we travel around the Midwest," Zimmerman said, "And we meet people that have become lifelong friends of ours."
Roy and Garnet Gilmore showed their Corvette for the first time in the Summer's End show Saturday. They said heads turn when people see their 2012 powder blue Corvette.
"People like it because it's different, and we've done some different things with the engine that makes it look a little different," Roy Gilmore said.
He said he had a wonderful experience at the show in Rogers, and enjoyed the hospitality of the people in Northwest Arkansas.
"I just encourage anybody that has a Corvette or even wants to come and see corvettes to come to this show next year, because it's really a great show and the people are great," Gilmore said.
The next show will be the fourth Saturday in August in 2015.
