Arkansas Defense Prepares for Auburn Spread

Last year Auburn strutted one of the nations highest powered offensives but the Hogs have been working to contain them.

The Razorbacks will be going up against a high powered offense that almost won a national title last  year. In order to duplicate Auburn's speed, they have been using a two huddle system in practice.

"We've kind of run a two huddled system with our look team. Once one group finishes up we've sent the other group to the line," defensive line coach Rory Segrest said. "We've had some time to detail what they are looking for."

"Our scout team is doing an unbelievable job of giving us a great look. They are moving fast," senior linebacker Braylon Mitchell said. "They are making us get lined up faster and I think it's going to help us out in the long run."

Nick Marshall may not start the game, but the Hogs know a complete game plan involves preparing for him.

"When you play a prolific player like Nick Marshall, it does not matter how many reps you get or how fast your scouts go," defensive backs coach Clay Jennings said. "You're not really going to get a chance to get the speed of the game till the first play."

"I probably won't be chasing him down, I'll probably just be tackling him in the back field," defensive end Deatrich Wise said.

Everyone anticipated a bright, hot game day in Alabama but the forecast is showing a strong chance of rain. But no matter the weather, football is football.

"If anything it's an advantage for us, they're not able to cut and do things like that, they're going to slip and fall," senior defensive end Travis Flower said. "Whatever the weather brings us, it's not in our control."

Last year did not go the way the Hogs wanted it to go confidence the Hogs have displayed make last season seem like a distant memory.
