BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) – The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging drivers who see inmates working on Benton County roads to honk at the inmates if drivers think they’re doing a good job, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

They have a work detail crew permanently assigned to the Benton County Road Department, the post states.

The inmates were in Siloam Springs on Thursday (Sept. 4) clearing brush, weed eating and removing road debris on Old Highway 68, according to the post.

“The inmates have an expectation of putting in a hard day’s work to be able to be on this crew, and hard work is what they do! If you see these crews out working, honk your horn and let them know they are doing a good job,” the post states.
