SEQUOYAH COUNTY, Okla. (KFSM) - Authorities are investigating after a utility truck crashed into a ditch and went up in flames Friday (Sept. 5) morning.

The Nicut Rural Fire Department responded to the call around 2:30 a.m., after a driver passed the truck on the side of Scratchout Road near Sallisaw.

When deputies and firefighters arrived to the wreck, they found a truck which was full of tools in a ditch alongside the road. It had been engulfed in flames.

Authorities on scene said the driver was able to make it out safely. Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart said he believes the truck was purposely set on fire. "We have a pretty good idea of who the truck belongs too," said Lockhart. " We are investigating it to be possibly a stolen truck."

Authorities said no tickets have been issued.
