FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -  The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating a stabbing that happened on Saturday night at the Econo Lodge on Futrall Drive.

A male victim was stabbed in the neck and taken to Washington Regional where police said his condition is unknown. Sergeant Craig Stout said officers are searching for the suspect who was least seen driving a dark passenger vehicle east on Martin Luther King Boulevard. Stout said witnesses described the man as thin, wearing sunglasses, no shirt and has multiple tattoos.

Stout said officers are waiting on a search warrant for room 228, so they don't know if the suspect still has the weapon with him. He said it is unclear what was used to stab the victim.

Police said they found out about the stabbing because a witness ran to the corner of Martin Luther King Blvd. and Futrall Dr. to flag down an officer directing traffic. Stout said officers responded around 7:30 p.m.

As of 10 p.m., officers were interviewing witnesses and going through security footage to try to identify the victim and the suspect.
