SEBASTIAN COUNTY (KFSM) – A body was found in the Arkansas River around 8 a.m. on Thursday (Sept. 11), authorities say.

The body was first seen floating in the river near the Arbuckle Island area, according to the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office.

A river boat captain called the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, but the information was forwarded to the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office, deputies said.

The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office patrol boat and investigators were sent to the area, and when they arrived, they found the body approximately five miles downriver from Vache Grasse Park, according to deputies.

The body was not identifiable at the time. It will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for identification and an autopsy for the cause of death, deputies said.

The Barling Police Department did take a report on the evening of Sept. 9 in reference to a missing person identified as Jamison Boyster. Authorities did not identify the body found as that of Boyster’s. He is still listed as missing, deputies said.
