BENTONVILLE (KFSM)- The new exhibition State of the Art: Discovering American Art Now features 102 artists across the U.S. that may not be well known in the national level. These galleries open to the public for free Saturday (Sept. 13) until Jan. 19, 2015.
The museum's curatorial team traveled more than 100,000 miles across the country to discover these artists that are still around and working.
This is the largest exhibition the museum has. It's 19,000 sq. ft. There are 227 works of arts showcasing everything from oil on canvas, to video, sculptures and photography.
"There are a lot of installations and different artwork that are very interactive and a lot of fun, playful but also some serious themes," said Beth Bobbitt, Crystal Bridges media relations manager. "It's going to be great."
The exhibition demonstrates the ways in which today's artists are impacted by the past and engage deeply with issues relevant to our time, according to the museum.
Crystal Bridges' members can receive a private tour on Friday (Sept. 12).
