FORT SMITH (KFSM) - Fans of Japanese cartoons, video games and science fiction are gathering in Fort Smith for a convention this weekend (Sept. 12 - Sept. 14).

Konsplosion, an annual science fiction convention in Fort Smith, kicked off on Friday (Sept. 12) and will run until Sunday evening (Sept. 14), according to the event's website.

The convention calls itself "A One of a Kind Convention" featuring special events, people in costumes, celebrity guests and more, the website states.

Tickets for adults cost $45 to get in for the entire weekend, and children ages five to 11 can get a weekend pass for $35, according to the website.

One of the special guests for the convention is actress Caitlin Glass. She has starred in a number of Japanese cartoons, also called anime, the website states.

Konsplosion is being held at the Fort Smith Convention Center at 55 S. 7th St., according to the website.
