WASHINGTON COUNTY (KFSM) – A Summers man was arrested on Wednesday (Sept. 10) on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl, police say.

Eduardo Hernandez, 27, was booked into the Washington County Detention Center at 7:31 a.m. and faces charges of second-degree sexual assault and obstructing government operations. His first hearing was on Friday (Sept. 12), and his bond was set at $10,000. His next hearing is scheduled for Oct. 15, according to the jail’s intake report.

On Tuesday (Sept. 9), Washington County deputies were called to an address in Summers to look into a sexual assault case involving a child, according to court documents.

The victim told her parents that Hernandez had sexually assaulted her inside the family’s home, court documents state.

The 7-year-old girl was taken to have a forensic interview done, and it was determined that her claims were true, according to court documents.

During an interview with the child, investigators determined the situation was sexual contact by forcible compulsion, court documents state.

Hernandez was located by authorities, and after giving them a false identity, his real name and age were found, according to court documents.

After lying about his identity, he showed authorities an ID card from Mexico, and it was thought to be fraudulent, court documents state.

During an interview, Hernandez confessed to authorities that he had sexual contact with the victim, and it was the only time he had “done something like this before,” according to court documents.

He was apologetic throughout the interview, court documents state.

It was discovered by authorities that Hernandez had an active arrest warrant for an unrelated traffic offense, according to court documents.

He also didn’t have any documents for residency, court documents state.
