BENTONVILLE (TIME) – The Walmart Vice President of Communications David Tovar announced he was leaving Walmart at the end of the month, but now he has said the reason he is leaving is he falsified information in his biography, Time magazine reported.

Tovar passed himself off as a 1996 graduate of the University of Delaware, but Walmart officials recently discovered that he didn’t finish his degree, according to Time magazine.

He actually left the school, where he was studying art, on May 25, 1996, with no degree, Time magazine reported.

It still isn’t known how Walmart officials discovered the truth about Tovar’s educational record after he’d worked there for eight years, according to Time magazine.
