CONWAY, Ark (KFSM) - A Conway woman is seeking to return a love letter she discovered that was written more than 70 years ago.

Paige Hess found the love note at the bottom of a sewing box, stuffed under needles, thread, and stamps. It was addressed to Miss Edna Mae Smith at 308 E. 17th Street in Little Rock, from Private C.J. Skaggs of Camp Robinson. The envelope was postmarked September 3, 1941.

Part of the letter reads, "Darling, you made me the happiest man in the army when you said you would become my wife."

Hess says she wants nothing more than to return the letter to Smith, Skaggs, or, possibly, their children. The Arkansas National Guard Museum says they do not have a Charles J. Skaggs on record.
