WALDRON (KFSM) -- Nearly 50 people are searching for a missing man in Scott County, who hasn't been seen since Friday (Sept. 19) according to Scott County Chief Deputy Terry Staggs.

Additional search and rescue teams came to the area near Waldron on Wednesday (Sept. 24) to look for Mark Nix, after his truck was found in a wooded area at Truman Baker Park Monday (Sept. 22) morning.

Crews from eight counties in Arkansas have been looking for him, along with three state agencies and one federal agency.

"We don't suspect any foul play at this time,”  Staggs said.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office said his wife spoke with him on Saturday.

"[She] wasn't real sure where he was, but they did have contact with him at one time Saturday," Staggs said.

According to Staggs, his wife told investigators it is not unusual for her not to know exactly where he is, because he is a hunter.

“He hunts out in the mountains all the time, so they didn't think anything of it,” Staggs said.

“They did like to deer hunt and they did like to turkey hunt,” Dorothy Duncan, who said she has known Nix and his family all his life, said.

Nix’s cell phone was found in the truck, but the keys were gone, according to authorities.

Search and rescue crews are looking for him in a six mile radius around the truck.

“I hope they find him and I hope he is okay,” Duncan said.

Authorities continued the search until 6 p.m. and will resume searching for him Thursday morning at 7 a.m.
