WALDRON (KFSM) – The family of a missing Scott County man is offering a $5,000 reward for information regarding his whereabouts.
Mark Nix, 39, has been missing since Sept. 19. About 45 searchers spent days scouring 300 acres south of Waldron while looking for the man. The search was called off Sept. 25, with authorities saying they did not suspect foul play in Nix’s disappearance.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office posted a flyer to its Facebook page Tuesday, asking anyone with information on Nix’s disappearance to call authorities at 479-637-4155. The flyer states Nix is six feet tall and 215 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a tan or gray t-shirt and a baseball cap, according to the flyer.
Although Nix has been missing since Sept. 19, he spoke the next day with his wife. She said she did not know where he was at the time, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Crews from eight counties began searching for the man after his truck was found in a wooded area at Truman Baker Park the morning of Sept. 22. Nix’s cell phone was found in the truck, but the keys were gone, according to authorities.
Nix is an avid hunter and has the resources to live several days alone in the woods, authorities said after calling off the search. Searchers said they exhausted their resources and covered the entire search area without finding a trace of Nix. Air support was also used.
