Police: Sex Offender Spied On 16-Year-Old While She Showered, Raped Her
SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – A registered sex offender was arrested on Oct. 15 in Springdale after police say he spied on a 16-year-old girl while she showered and had previously raped her when she was younger.
Harry Robinson, 50, was booked into the Washington County Detention Center at 8:04 a.m. and faces charges of rape, voyeurism and an unspecified civil matter, according to the jail’s intake report.
On Oct. 10, police received a report that a 16-year-old girl had been showering when she discovered a square hole under the medicine cabinet in the bathroom where she bathed. She looked closer and found a camera, according to a news release from the Springdale Police Department.
Police later discovered she had been sexually assaulted in 2009 by the same suspect that recorded her on camera while she showered, the release states. The victim was only 10 years old when she was sexually assaulted, police said.
A search warrant was executed at Robinson’s home at 1951 McRay Ave., and police discovered a hole and a video camera like the victim described. In addition to that, police discovered binoculars and other items near a large window that overlooked the playground of Westwood Elementary School, according to the release.
A sliding glass door was also found to be partially painted black. The top portion was clear where someone could see out of it, but from the waist level to the floor, it was painted black, the release states.
Detectives seized computers, thumb drives and a digital recorder from the residence, according to the release.
Robinson was interviewed by detectives, and he admitted to video-taping the victim and also viewing child pornography. He also admitted to sexually assaulting the victim in 2009, the release states.
The suspect is a registered level two sex offender living across the street from Westwood Elementary School. Under Arkansas law, only level three and four sex offenders have restrictions that determine where they can live, according to the release.
Bond has not yet been set for Robinson, but his first court hearing is scheduled for Friday (Oct. 17), the jail’s intake report states.
