PARIS (KFSM) – A Paris man pleaded guilty to negligent homicide in multiple DWI deaths and was sentenced to 90 years in prison on Thursday (Oct. 16), according to Logan County deputies.
Eric Thompson, 43, pleaded guilty to three counts of negligent homicide in Logan County Circuit Court. A jury was selected to hear testimony and give the sentencing, deputies said.
After the proceedings, a jury sentenced Thompson to the maximum of 30 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections for each count. The sentences are to be served consecutively, according to deputies.
On Aug. 22, 2013, Thompson killed James Lee, 32, of Paris and his two sons, James Lee, 8, and Caleb Campbell, 12, in a drunk driving crash, deputies said. The Lee family was in a 2006 Chevy vehicle on AR 309 in Logan County when Thompson, driving a 1996 Dodge pickup truck, collided with them, deputies said.
Afterward, Thompson’s blood alcohol content was found to be over the legal limit at the time of the accident, according to deputies.
