Johnson County Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Raping 13-Year-Old

JOHNSON COUNTY (KFSM) – A Johnson County man is behind bars after being arrested on suspicion of two counts of rape, authorities say.

Elvert McCormick, 54, was arrested and booked Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 21) into the Johnson County Detention Center after deputies say he raped a 13-year-old on multiple occasions, according to the jail administrator.

The investigation began in July after a complaint was filed with authorities.

McCormick appeared before Circuit Judge Bill Pearson on Oct. 21, and his bond is set at $150,000, authorities said.

His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 7 in Johnson County Circuit Court, according to authorities.

    Elvert Jackson “Jack” McCormick, age 54 of Hartman was arrested on a charge of R a p e by detectives with the Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday October 21 at his place of employment (Butterball) in Ozark. The investigation began in July after a complaint was filed that McCormick had s e x u a l contact with a 13 year-old family member on separate occasions. After an extensive investigation, a report was submitted to the prosecutor’s office and a felony warrant was issued for McCormick’s arrest. McCormick appeared before Circuit Judge Bill Pearson on October 21 where his bond was set at $150,000.00 cash/commercial with a court date of November 7 in Johnson County Circuit Court. Detective Lt.
