Hogs Offensive Line Key To Success This Weekend

The offensive line has been critical for the Hogs success in the air and on the ground, and are ready for challenge against Mississippi State.

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - The Arkansas offensive linemen gained attention after a touchdown pass from Sebastian Tretola, but this o-line has had more ups and down than just this past weekend.

"We were pretty good I think for the first four and a half, four and three quarter games," offensive line coach Sam Pittman said. "Then we played some stiffer competition, and we didn't play as well. Some of that had to do with us. Some of that had to do with Alabama. Some of that had to do with Georgia.”

This line, though, has been critical to the Hogs success this year in the air and on the ground.

“You can't say enough about the offensive line,” quarterback Brandon Allen said. “They're the guys that make the whole offense run really. You can have play makers here and there, but if you can't get the ball to them with protection, or blocking and opening holes, then nothing really works.”

These guys are going to be crucial when it comes to this weekend when the Hogs take on the number one team in the nation, Mississippi State.

“We've got a big task ahead of us. But, we're going to have to be able to block for us to have success. So I'd say our matchup with them is really important,” Pittman said.

“We've had flashes of good things,” offensive guard Brey Cook said. “Different games with good stats and everything, but we definitely got to step it up. You know, this is a good defense coming in. Number one in a lot of categories in the country, and especially in the conference. We've got to come out there and play a good game.”

But, the Hogs aren't afraid to take on number one, or their cowbells.
