FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM)- The $12 million Hilton Garden Inn opened Monday (Oct. 27) off of Interstate 49 at the Wedington Drive exit. It has 115 rooms, a full service restaurant and bar, and 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.

The growth on Wedington Dr. doesn't stop with the multimillion dollar hotel.

In the past three years, the city has seen $100 million in business and real estate investment off of Wedington, according to Steve Clark, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce.

"All the development on Wedington Drive means a great deal to Fayetteville in new tax revenue being created with the hotel, motel, restaurant tax," Clark said. "Also, means attraction to other businesses when they see the growth and development..."

Clark said recent businesses have popped up and there are plans for a new Starbucks, Freddy's restaurant and more apartments.

"All kinds of businesses, healthcare, banking, food, retail, hotel businesses have moved out there," Clark said. "You actually see some physician offices and Northwest Medical has put a big clinic out there."

The city is improving roads nearby like Rupple Road to improve access to the busy street.

"That's become one of the fastest growing areas in Fayetteville and certainly one of the fastest for retail kinds of outlets," he said.
