FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM)- A Rogers man was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison and five years of supervised release for knowingly receiving child pornography images, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Scott Kibat, 45, of Rogers pleaded guilty to the charge on May 12, court records show.

According to the release from the office of U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge, in January, Homeland Security Investigations and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force of Northwest Arkansas carried out an investigation into the distribution of child pornography in the area. As a result of that investigation, authorities searched Kibat’s home in February, where they found and seized numerous computers and digital devices. Investigators found 44 videos and over 1,000 images of child pornography on Kibat’s computer.

“Cases involving children are among the highest priorities of our office, and we will not rest until justice is served on their behalf,” U.S. Attorney Eldridge stated. “Every time a video or image involving sexual abuse of children is downloaded or viewed, those children are re-victimized.  We will continue to aggressively prosecute cases such as this and hold those who commit crimes involving children accountable for their actions.”
