TULSA COUNTY (KFSM) – Tulsa University quarterback Jabe Burgess has been suspended from team activities after being arrested earlier this week on suspicion of breaking into a local apartment.

The former Greenwood football player was arrested Sunday night on suspicion of second-degree felony burglary. He was released the next day on $5,000 bond, according to the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.

Following Burgess’s arrest, a Tulsa University spokesman released a statement saying the quarterback had been suspended indefinitely from all team activities.

Tulsa police responded Sunday night to a report of a burglary at an apartment on Eighth Street, where the victim told officers he came home to find his apartment ransacked and vandalized.

The victim said Burgess entered the apartment through the front door and caused more than $1,000 in damage, according to an arrest report released by the Sheriff’s Office. While looking through the apartment, investigators said they found a black iPhone belonging to Burgess.

Officers notified Burgess of the investigation, and he met police at a Tulsa University security office. He admitted to entering the victim’s apartment without permission, but refused to make a statement, according to the arrest report.

Burgess was arrested following the interview with police.
