BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) – A trial date has been set for an accused Decatur rapist stemming from a sexual assault case that started in March, according to court documents.

Michael J. Conway, 38, pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and second-degree sexual assault on Oct. 13, court documents state. He was booked into the Benton County Detention Center on Nov. 13, according to court records.

Conway was arrested in July on suspicion of rape and second-degree sexual assault but posted a $75,000 bond and was released from jail after being given a “no contact” order to protect the victims of the case, court records state. He was out of jail from July until November on bond, according to court documents.

On Nov. 17, his bond was surrendered due to his Nov. 13 arrest. He was taken into custody then on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court records.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 22, according to the jail’s intake report.

A $20,000 bond has been set for his potential possession of drug paraphernalia charge, the intake report states.

The rape and sexual assault charges stem from an incident on March 26. Court documents state police were called to the 1000 block of Evergreen Street in Centerton for a report of a sexual assault case. The mother of the victims (a 10-year-old girl, 14-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl) told police that Conway had forced her daughters to touch him inappropriately, according to court documents.

The incidents took place in November and December of 2013, court documents state. Conway would also touch the girls inappropriately, according to court documents. Similar incidents continued to occur until March 12, court documents state.

Police brought Conway into the department to interview him where he denied all the incidents, according to court documents. He was arrested after the interview on unrelated charges at the time and booked into the Benton County Detention Center, court documents state.

On March 31 and July 3 police interviewed the victims, and one of them said that Conway had raped her, according to court documents.

A warrant was issued for Conway’s arrest on July 3, court documents state.

Conway’s pretrial for the rape and sexual assault charges is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2015, and his jury trial is scheduled for April 14, 2015, according to court documents.
