(KFSM) – Fast food company Chick-fil-A started allowing customers to order and pay for their food through a smartphone app on Tuesday (Dec. 9), according to a news release.

Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country are now accepting mobile payments through the official app, the release states. These new features allow customers to pay for their meals without relying solely on cash or credit cards, according to the release.

The Atlanta-based restaurant chain made their app available for customers with iPhones or Android devices, and funds can be loaded into the app using credit or debit card information, the release states.

“When customers are ready to pay, they simply tap the “Pay” button and scan their account’s unique Quick Response Code (QR code) at the register or drive–thru window. The cost of the meal will be automatically deducted from the account balance,” the release states.

Mobile ordering is also now available in more than 130 stores across the nation, according to the release.

This literally puts the ordering process in the customers’ hands,” said Khalilah Cooper, leader of digital ordering strategy at Chick–fil–A. “Mobile ordering is all about giving customers the flexibility and choice to order what they want, when they want it, and how they want it. It’s perfect for any customer who is short on time, and it’s also convenient for families with children who want to customize a large order and avoid standing in line at the front counter.”

Mobile ordering is only available on the iPhone app, but is expected to be available on Android devices soon, the release states. Breakfast and catering orders cannot be placed through the mobile ordering app, according to the release.
