SPRINGDALE (KFSM)- Springdale firefighters are teaming up with area businesses to spread holiday cheer to the children at the Pat Walker Center for Children. They will hand out about 150 toys for Christmas Wednesday (Dec. 17).
This is the fourth year they do this event, according to Eric Anderson, Springdale firefighter. This year they've worked together with Everett Chevrolet, Everett Chrysler Dodge and Macadoodles.
They plan to pull up in their fire trucks with Santa and hand out gift to newborns all the way to kids 10 years of age.

Anderson said he loves seeing the kids' faces light up.

"We don't always see people in their best days for the cause that we run on," Anderson said. "This gives us a chance to actually see the really good things and to see the look on the kids' faces when they get the toys, just how happy they are to have the firefighters there, be able to climb through the engine and the trucks, and just to be interacting with us is really an amazing thing."

They're going to start collecting toys year round to increase the number of presents children receive next Christmas.

"I think that the majority of us feel blessed to do the job that we do and so being able to give back to the community that we serve it makes us feel good and it's pretty much why we are here, " Anderson said.
The event starts at 9 a.m.
