I-40 Accident

OZARK (KFSM) – Franklin County Deputies temporarily shut down parts of Interstate 40, both east and west bound, from Ozark to Mulberry on Sunday (Jan. 11th).

They opened that portion of the road after an hour advising cars to move at slow speeds due to black ice, according to authorities. A few tractor trailers veered off into the side of road with one even turning over on its side. Franklin County dispatch tell 5NEWS no injuries were reported in those accidents.

Authorities attribute the ice for causing drivers problems this Sunday morning. Arkansas State Police also confirm Interstate 49 and Interstate 540 are experiencing ice roads making it a hassle for drivers.

Stay with 5NEWS for the latest on both road and weather conditions throughout the morning.
