Portis Picks Up Pair Of Honors

Arkansas forward named player of the week by both SEC and CBSsports.com
PORTIS

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – As expected, the awards came rolling in on Monday for Arkansas forward Bobby Portis.

The sophomore from Little Rock poured in 32 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in an 82-70 win over Vanderbilt for the Razorbacks on Saturday. That followed a 21 points, five rebound effort in a four point win at Georgia as Arkansas started the SEC 2-0 for the first time since 2008.

Portis was named the CBSSports.com national player of the week as well as the SEC player of the week.

The Arkansas forward is averaging a team high 18.1 points per game and shooting a staggering 58 percent from the field. Portis also leads the team in rebounds (7.8), blocks (1.0) and is second in steals (1.1) per game.

Arkansas can match their best SEC start since 1998 with a win at Tennessee on Tuesday (Jan. 13).
