ROGERS (KFSM) - A man was killed in a house fire in Rogers on Sunday (Jan. 18), according to authorities.

Firefighters responded to a house fire at 607 N. 6th Street around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.

There were two people, a woman and a man, inside the home at the time of the fire, said Rogers Fire Chief Tom Jenkins.

The fire chief said that when firefighters made their way inside the home they found a person dead. He said that the victim was a middle-aged man and was bed-ridden.

Bruce Ley said he lives in front of the home that caught fire.

"Very sad," Ley said. "I feel terribly for her."

He's talking about his neighbor, who he said made it out safely, but her brother didn't.

"She told me that the fire was down the hallway from her room and she did the best she could, but she got out," he said.

Jenkins said the fire started in a bedroom. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
