FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – The Arkansas women’s basketball team snapped its four-game losing streak and gets its first SEC win behind 21 points from sophomore Kelsey Brooks and a career-high 15 points from freshman McKinley Bostad defeating the Missouri Tigers 73-55.
Arkansas improves to 11-6 overall and 1-4 in SEC play. Missouri drops to 11-8 and 1-5 in conference.
Bostad, with her first career start delivered today, finishing with 15 points including 10 in the first half. Bostad’s 10 first-half points were crucial as Arkansas built up a 38-22 lead going into the locker room. Arkansas was lights out from behind the arc in the opening 20 minutes, making seven on 13 attempts. The Razorbacks also used a pair of 9-2 runs in the half to help extend the advantage.
Brooks picked up where she left off in the second half. Brooks finished with 17 second-half points and 21 overall. She nearly missed a double-double as she hauled in nine rebounds and also had four assists.
Today’s game brought in the second-largest home crowd in three seasons for the women’s team with an attendance of 4,299 at Bud Walton Arena. Arkansas will take to the road for its next two games, traveling to Vanderbilt Jan. 22 and Florida Jan. 25.
