EASTERN OKLAHOMA (KFSM) – The family of the 21-year-old nursing student found dead Sunday in Latimer County has raised almost $6,000 toward her funeral, according to a GoFundMe page set up for the costs.

The online fundraising page was set up Sunday following news of Callie Morris’ death. It had raised $5,882 from 191 donators by late Monday afternoon. The online fundraiser has a stated goal of $3,500 to cover funeral arrangements at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home in McAlester, Okla.

Morris, a Henderson State University student, was found dead in her vehicle overturned and submerged in water off of a roadway in LeFlore County, Okla. Deputies found her vehicle and body following a three-day search for Morris, who went missing Thursday night on her way from Hot Springs, Ark., to McAlester, according to the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies and search crews used planes and helicopters Friday and Saturday to look for Morris and her vehicle in southern LeFlore County. Other nearby counties on her scheduled route also set up similar search efforts.

A cell phone ping revealed her last known location to be near the Whitesboro and Muse area around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, two hours after she left a nursing program in Hot Springs headed for her parents’ home in McAlester.

Searchers discovered new information Saturday afternoon that led the search to an area near Big Cedar, Okla. Deputies and area law enforcement continued the search Sunday morning and found Morris in a Latimer County creek, according to the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office.

Morris’ mother said she last spoke to her daughter around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, and that Morris said she was getting ready to leave Hot Springs after stopping at a Chicken Express to eat. Morris’ mother said she should have arrived in McAlester around 8 p.m. She never reached her destination.
