For the first time in two weeks an Arkansas basketball game didn't come down to the final seconds. The Razorbacks beat South Carolina 75-55 Tuesday night at Bud Walton arena to improve to 17-5 and 6-3 in the SEC.

Bobby Portis led all scores with 18 points. He added 13 rebounds for his seventh double-double in eight games.

The Hogs found themselves down early, missing nine shots in a row. South Carolina went on a 10 nothing run in that span, but midway through the first half Arkansas went on their own 18-3 run. Anton Beard scored seven straight points in that run.

The Razorbacks took a 35-28 lead into half time and build it up to 13 points just four minutes into the second half. After going scoreless in the first half, Michael Qualls sparked the Hogs with all 11 of his points in the second half.

South Carolina was bitten by the injury bug, only dressing nine healthy players. They shot just 28 percent and turned the ball over 20 times. That led to 21 Arkansas points.

The Razorbacks host Mississippi State Saturday at 3 p.m.
