Fluoride Coming to Greenwood Water

GREENWOOD (KFSM) -- Fluoride will be in Greenwood's water this spring, according to Steve Ratterree, chairman of the city's water commission.

“Sometime in April we hope to turn the switch and start putting the fluoride in the water,” Ratterree said in a phone interview.

In 2011 the state passed a law that says water plants in Arkansas serving more than 5,000 people need to add the extra ingredient.

Ratterree said some people have concerns about the treatment.

"There's a lot of sensitivity with customers that don't want to be dictated as to what their drinking water is,” he said.

Phillip Morton is a dentist in Fort Smith, which will also have fluoride added to its water. He said adding fluoride to water is a good thing, but acknowledges that not everyone agrees.

"Some people are against it because of their fear of systemic effects,” he said.

Morton said the worst thing that can happen to your teeth when ingesting too much fluoride is fluorosis, but that is very unlikely when the levels of fluoride are properly regulated.

Ratterree said the water is already tested daily, and will continue to be tested daily when the fluoride is added.

"This will just be another step that they have to go through to make sure the chemicals that are being put in the water are adequate per state guidelines,” he said.

"In my mind, benefits of fluoridating water far outweigh any of the negative consequences that some people fear,” Morton said.

Construction at the water plant will start when all the equipment gets there. The equipment is being paid for by a $124,000 grant from the Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation.

At least 31 of the 34 water system affected by the law have submitted plans and funding requests to add fluoride to their water, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Fort Smith and Booneville have plans to add fluoride to their water, too.

That’s it Citizens! Go ahead and drink the Cool-Aid, If it’s on the Internet it’s got to be true! how will you know that the person in charge doesn’t leave the Tap open to long! or how much of the Governments Water you really get! I remember when this same Government said that Agent Orange was safe! I’m gonna drill an extra Water Well on my place and start selling it at Hwy. 10 and 71.

I totally agree with you! Thinking “the worst thing that can happen to your teeth when ingesting too much fluoride is fluorosis” is not addressing the real problem of ingesting a chemical that even the dentists say not to swallow when they give you a fluoride treatment! It’s not good for your health in the opinion of many scientists. There’s plenty of negative opinion of fluoride but the government doesn’t give us a choice anymore. People need to google fluoride and do their own research or just be ignorant and keep drinking whatever they put before you!

A sixth grader could take three hours on any given school day evening and compile enough research proposing a debate regarding this treatment and it’s questionable and controversial historical systematic affects throughout the last 85 to 100 years. If you do enough research, you’ll find that it was suitable for Eugenics supporters who knew its beneficial impact in being used as a tool for several European countries military objectives. Google USAF Major George R. Jordan, Nazi’s-and learn the historical controversy all the way back to the late 1800’s. Enough said. Drink the Kool-Aid Sheep. You deserve every bit of damnation coming to you. If society is that stupid (and clearly it is), then those who are well educated and observant as well as savvy do deserve to continue the gene pool with exceptional traits which will further the species. I’ve been in the homes of elites in entertainment and none of them drink from the tap. Everyone has a water treatment system knowing of Fluoride and Vaccines.

Fodder, you sound just like a very good friend who Mentors me from time to time when he see’s me slipping! He loves to Quote Thomas Jefferson. I’s on ever tube of tooth paste (Caution do not swallow) it contains Fluoride. LOL go figure and that stuff is suppose to be good for your teeth!

Would You Drink Shampoo to Clean Your Hair?
Or sunscreen to protect your skin?
Drinking fluoride to protect teeth? Really?
Fluoride toothpaste applied to the surface of teeth is sufficient.
“Where is the physician who will impose a lifelong prescription for an untested potentially toxic substance (fluoride), without proven clinical benefit, on a patient he/she has never met, interviewed or examined? Such dubious behavior would extract appropriate censure from the licensing authority of the physician involved, on the basis that it is unscientific, unscrupulous, unethical, and therefore unacceptable.”

Adding Fluoride to the water helps those who do not regularly brush/maintain their teeth. You don’t ingest toothpaste due to the fact that the it contains 0.22-0.31ppm compared to water at 0.7ppm. Toothpaste is 3 to 4 times stronger than tap water.

Yeah, it sure does and it also slows the brain down also…which clearly you must accept, right? I mean, you’re for others less intelligent than you am I correct? Survival of the fittest is your defense? Dr. Phyllis Mullenix comes to mind regarding studies against Fluoride. There are many more. Yes, other nations have barred and all but outlawed it’s implementation. Ever wonder why? Ever question authority or ponder why we accept collectively the acceptance of such? Think for yourself and choose good for your body, not bad. No good can come about of this Hazardous Material being incorporated into our drinking water, not even the supposed benefits of reduction regarding tooth decay. Spend some time researching it before you accept it’s peer reviewed foolish acceptance. Cancer and purposeful intentional calculated American worker life spans are by design. The medical industry profits off our ignorance and lack of knowledge. We are but mere rats for the slaughter. Once we’re unproductive, we’re discarded and cast away. Capitalism is NOT the answer to longevity and old age. Being wise and prudent is.

Ryan, you obviously have never been to Vietnam, Thailand, China, or Poland. Non of those country’s in the 60’s used Fluoride in their water, and those folks had great teeth in their 90’s+ Funny how the Mi nute amount of Fluoride in Toothpaste has a Warning about not using it with children under 3 WHY! if it’s a wonder drug! I’m glad you choose to live in the City with your head buried in the SAND.

I researched a minimum of five notable sources online with a number of countries who either no longer utilize Fluoride or who have banned it outright or rejected its implementation. You can see for yourself. Israel is the last to make adjustments against it’s usage. Enjoy your drinking water. I’m sick of defending common sense and natural hydration. If the society is stupid enough to NOT fight and defend it’s rights for survival because of trust and ignorance, then collectively, civilization deserves it’s own demise. I used to care. Now I’m amused and ashamed. Robert Carlton, Ph.D, former EPA scientist, 1992 comes to mind as another source for information. Enjoy your researching, if you care.

I’m left, very left, and my friends are even farther left. I am the only one that reads historical controversial fodder on vaccines and Fluoride issues and questions the controversy (like a good skeptic should.) The rest of my loving liberals refuse to acknowledge historical substantive argumentative issues. If scientific and medical educated peers approve, so do they (and without question). That is dangerous. In fact, they’re in true definitive diagnosed clinical psychological denial (and most are because they can’t cope or accept skepticism or refute their educated scientific or medical brothers and sisters). Fact is; most of the medical community and scientific communities are immerged in heavily influenced by profit motivated corporatist with an objective to profit with no ethical respect for society. As a child of parents in the medical field, I know first-hand how powerful Big Pharma is with the medical, pharmaceutical and University level research and development grants which produces studies and ultimately cookie cutter stamps approval on statistics regarding research. Government accepts unknowingly and we trust them. We collectively approve. To my liberals, enjoy your deception. To my conservatives, stop your faithful illusion. Capitalism is deception. Both diametrically opposed political sides need to wake up. You’re both being played. Look at other nations who’ve rejected both Vaccines and Fluoride. Who’s the smart cookie now?

Unbelievable, they made it a law to put this toxic waste by product in your drinking water so there is nothing you can do about it. Most of Europe have outlawed this practice and Israel was the latest country to ban this substance from their drinking water citing health concerns (google it).Commiserations Greenwood
