(KFSM) – RadioShack may have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, but local stores in Northwest Arkansas are staying open, according to a store manager.

The electronics chain filed for bankruptcy on Thursday (Feb. 5), according to CBS. The business will sell up to 2,400 stores, but local RadioShack businesses in Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville will keep their doors open, according to the manager. This is due to those stores being part of a local franchise.

RadioShack in Fayetteville at 1702 N. College Ave. has been locally owned since 1971. Once word of RadioShack filing for bankruptcy got out, the local store received numerous calls wondering if it would hold a going out of business sale, an employee told 5NEWS.

“We’re here to stay,” the store manager said.

Other RadioShack locations in Northwest Arkansas include:

  • 917 W. Walnut St. in Rogers
  • 3277 W. Sunset Ave. Suite B in Springdale
  • 220 N. Walton Blvd, Suite 8 in Bentonville

The local franchise is owned by Vaughn Electronics Corp., according to business records.
