FORT SMITH (KFSM) – Surveillance video of a Fort Smith armed robbery from over the weekend was not recorded, despite the gas station being outfitted with cameras, according to police.

Fort Smith police said a man walked into the Sunshine Store at 4101 Kelley Highway on Saturday morning and brandished a black handgun. He demanded money from the female clerk at the gas station and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The Sunshine Store was outfitted with surveillance equipment and cameras, but the cameras were not recording at the time of the armed robbery, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

Police continue their investigation, although they said there was no physical evidence left behind from the suspect at the scene. He is described as a white male, about six feet tall, with a beard. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans and black gloves, according to police.

The suspect also reportedly used a red bandana to cover his face.

No one was injured in the robbery, police said.
