FORT SMITH (KFSM)- A chilly and rainy morning didn’t stop the Fort Smith Farmer’s Market from happening on Saturday (Feb. 21).

While the vendor turnout was somewhat low, quite a few customers still came by to stock up on local goods.

Farmer Joe Carr was selling sweet potatoes straight off the farm. Other vendors sold fresh eggs and grass-fed beef.

Carr said while the rain did bring less merchants downtown, he expects more to show up next weekend.

“I`m just looking forward to a prosperous season and a good growing season and lots of produce, and a lot of people coming out to shop here. and we`re gonna put our best foot forward and try to have the best produce we`ve ever had,” he said.

The Downtown Farmer’s Market takes place every Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon, weather permitting. Starting in May, the Market will be open on Tuesday’s and Saturday’s. For more information, click here.
