OKLAHOMA CITY (KWTV) – A proposal to force certain sex offenders in Oklahoma to go through chemical castration as a condition of release from prison failed in a state Senate committee on Feb. 24.

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 5-4 on Tuesday against the bill by Sen. Mark Allen, R-Spiro. Since this week is a deadline for bills to emerge from committee, the measure is most likely finished for the session.

The bill, if passed, would have targeted those convicted of certain sexually violent offenses, including forcible sodomy, rape, lewd proposals to a child, solicitation of a minor and procuring a minor to participate in pornography.
